I have installed a Samsung ML 2580N laser printer with the new iMac 20.5″ last week. It was in a shared professional office environment and only one network port in the office. The iMac is running with Mac OS X 10.6.3 and the printer is connected via USB connection.

The problem with the printer is that the it’s gone “offline” when you try to do a second print after the printer is switched on. If I do the hard reset by unplugging the power cord and reconnect and switch it on, it will split out the previous print that caused the printer “offline”.

I have installed the printer driver from the CD that came with the printer, and also downloaded from Samsung website. I have also reset the printer settings inside Printer and Fax in System preferences.

Took the printer back to our office connected to another iMac that is running Mac OS X 10.6.3, and same problem,

Then, we connect the printer to the network via Ethernet cable, and it didn’t work with “Bonjour” setup , but works with IP printing.

Rang Samsung support and asked me to re-install the driver .

Anyone have any suggestions ?

What is i5 or i7 mean yo you ?

They’re the product codes for Intel Quad Core 2.66 GHz and 2.8 GHz computer processors.

It just happens to be used by Apple in their current models of iMac 27-inch. It’s a worldwide shortage of these models and some of the back orders are dated as far back as October and November, 2009 for the resellers. But the shortage is only applies to the Apple Resellers, it doesn’t apply to Apple’s own Apple Store. You can walk in any of the Apple Stores and come out with the worldwide shortage product without any problems.

What it mean for the resellers ? Does it mean Apple is no longer needing the resellers to sell their products ? Does it mean the end of the road for all these Apple resellers who has supported the Mac users in the past, especially during later part of 90s when Apple was in trouble ?

We don’t know yet at his stage, what is Apple’s policies about their channel partners – Apple resellers.

But we do know that there is a shortage of i5/i7 iMac 27-inch worldwide. You can’t buy them from any of the resellers without extended delay, at least in Australia. But you can walk in any of the Apple Stores and pick one up (i5) straight away.

We all know now, it’s not iSlate, not iTablet, but it’s an iPAD !!!

For some customers, as soon as they hear about “iPad”, the first thing that comes into their mind is nothing to do with electronic device but something that regularly use by the female customers. But it will go away when the name becomes more familiar in the market place.

So, would you buy an iPad ? i don’t know about you, but I have received orders for 2 already and it’s still 2 to 3 months away for the delivery. We don’t even know the pricing in Australia yet.

There are people commenting that iPad has not really introduced any new grounds or new technologies. Also there are a few desirable features which are not included in the new iPad. for example,built-in camera, OLED display, USB port, HDMI port etc. You will need to purchase the optional accessories (docking device) to get some of these features.

Like the applications for iPhone, when more and more developers introduce the new applications/games for the iPad, then, it will become a main stream product for the business and home users. Apple wasn’t promoting this area when they announced the new iPad last week.

it’s not a down graded Macbook/Macbook Pro, but a bigger iphone/iPod Touch. It’s running with iPhone operating system rather than the downgraded version of Mac OS X. also, Like the iPhones, it doesn’t support the Web sites that are running with Adobe Flash.

Here is the extract from macrumors.com

Steve Jobs held a town hall meeting with Apple employees late last week following the iPad launch. Wired reports on what was said at the meeting by Steve Jobs. Two of the biggest topics included Google and Adobe.

On Google, Jobs confirms the much-reported competition between the two companies.

On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them, he says.

As for Adobe, Jobs said they are lazy and Jobs blames Adobe for a buggy implementation of Flash on the Mac as one of the reasons they won’t support it.

Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy, he says. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash, he says. The world is moving to HTML5.

And here is a step by step guide will provide two solutions to fix the problem; Option 1: If you have an iPod, you can sync your iTunes library to the iPod, and then copy them from iPod to the new computer; Option 2: You can sync iTunes to external hard drive and import them back to the new computer;

Now, let’s start the guide. Part 1. User iPod to transfer iTunes library to another computer Step1. Sync the iTunes library from computer to your iPod, I’m sure you can handle this step, so I’m not explain it here. Because iTunes prevents copying music and video from iPod to computer, you need special software to bypass the iTunes limitation. I have tried many iPod transfers, and I strongly recommend this iPod to Computer transfer. It’s really easy to use. I have tested it with all series of iPod including iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPod Shuffule, iPod photo, even iPhone, they all works pretty well. Moreover, you can use it as an iTunes alternative, it’s really useful when your iTunes can’t recognize your iPod but you want to upload music and video to iPod. Step2. Download and install the iPod to PC transfer. For more information about it, you can visiting this iPod transfer review. Run the iPod to PC transfer, plug in your iPod to the new computer, it will detect your iPod and scan your iPod, then it will return a list of the files on your iPod. Choose the list and files you want to transfer, Click the Start Transfer button.

Step3. After you clicking the Start Transfer button, the following window will pop up; you can choose transferring to computer hard drive or iTunes directly. You can set the output fold at settings option before transferring.

Done, If you are Mac user, you may try this Mac iPod to computer transfer, the operation steps are similar to the windows version, so I’m not repeating here. Part2. Use external hard drive to transfer iTunes library to another computer Since iPods get their music by syncing with iTunes, you’ll need to either 1) tell iTunes to store music files on your portable external hard drive instead of your regular drive, or 2) import music files from your external drive into iTunes. Step1: Tell iTunes where to store music files Open iTunes and select Edit — Preferences. Then click the Advanced tab where you’ll find the iTunes Music folder location.

Click the Change button and choose a folder on your external hard drive (you might want to create one first if you want files to be stored in a particular folder on the new drive). If you want all of your music files to be moved over from your main drive to the external drive, then make sure the Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library option is checked. Step2: Import music into iTunes from an external hard drive If you already have music video on a portable hard drive, and just want to get them into iTunes so you can sync up and get those files on your ipod, then you can just drag and drop those files onto your new computer iTunes. You can also use the File — Add Folder to Library menu in iTunes, choose the music and video folder on your portable drive, and iTunes will add those to your library. If you uncheck the Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library option, which is on this same tab shown above, then iTunes will leave the files on your external drive. In the checked state (shown above), iTunes will copy all of the music files from the folder on your external drive over to your main drive. That might not be what you want (particularly if your external drive has more files on it than the size of your main drive).

With the release of Windows 7 on October 22 2009, Microsoft aims to make it the most formidable operating system ever. Windows Vista which released in 2006,was good but was a nightmare in terms of performance. What worked to Windows Vista’s disadvantage was that it needed significant hardware upgrade for Windows XP users who have been used to the same hardware for many years; for instance RAM requirements extended to gigabites. Just as Windows XP released after the unstable Windows ME, Windows 7 has released to correct the issues in Windows Vista. Though Windows Vista required hardware upgrade, Windows 7 will work comfortably in computers that have been around in the past couple of years. In other words, if you had been using Windows Vista, do not fear; Window 7 will work like butter on it, smooth and easy. Even better news is the fact that Window 7 runs much faster than Windows Vista. Try installing Vista on your Asus netbook and it will slow down your system, but if you run it on Windows 7, it will work smoothly. For Windows XP users: If you are using Windows XP, and want to upgrade to Windows 7 Home or Windows 7 Professional, you will have to go for a clean install, which means you have to wipe everything on your computer. But once installed, Windows 7 runs smoothly; in fact, it will be up and running in an hour. It will pick up the printer drivers and graphic cards effortlessly, but it will struggle to find Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers, which implies that you will have to manually search for them. The Look of Windows 7: Windows 7 is very much like Vista in terms of look and appearance. In case of Windows 7, the icons look bigger and polished. The best feature of Windows 7 is the new taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Mac fans may not really be jumping high on this because this is a replication of the dock concept, which the maverick operating system is known for. The unique task bar of Windows 7 will show all applications that are currently open and you will be able to ‘pin’ applications that you will mostly use. If you right-click on an icon in the taskbar, the ‘Jump List’ feature will open that shows the actions most associated with that particular application. So, if you right click on the Internet Explorer, you will see the URLs of recently visited websites and the option to open a new tab. If you right-click on MS Word, you will see recently used files as well as the option to open a new one.

Sony may consider reducing the initial price if they find that the device’s sales are dwindling especially during the holiday season. The hope is that the device will stimulate the minds and hearts of consumers because of its unique design. If this is true, the price will be maintained and could increase along with demand. That is probably something most consumers do not want to hear.If you enter the Internet world to know about the virus.Any moment now, something free to download to your computer takes the risk of downloading a virus. Some of the changes made to the handheld are very beneficial for gamers, while others only hurt it.
Are you looking for full-featured and easy-to-use software that will allow you to upload music, videos, pictures and podcasts from your iPod to iTunes quickly and easily? If so, it is important to remember that all iPod data transfer software on the market today does this however many products do not allow you to upload data from your computer to your iPod or iPhone, or support the most recent iPod and iPhone models. These particular features seem to be a dividing line of sorts between the less expensive and more expensive products out there, namely that the less expensive mono- transfer capability products and the slightly more expensive products that support dual computer to iPod and iPod to computer data transfer and support all iPod and iPhone models. The following is a brief summary of user experiences and general analysis of some of the more popular iPod transfer software offerings currently available for purchase.

1. iPod to Computer Transfer 5.3: iPod to Computer Transfer performs the data transfer from your iPod to your computer seamlessly for music and videos although some users have reported problems with transferring games. Other users feel that the upgrade process is not clearly discernable and some have reservations about the look and feel of the software itself, but all in all, iPod to Computer Transfer 5.3 performs the tasks it claims to do efficiently, and is priced in the 20 dollar category of iPod one-way transfer software offerings, although it is unclear if all data can be transferred with this software, not just music and videos. This product has a free trial download available on cnet and zdnet or on their website.

2. MediaWidget Easy iPod Transfer 4.0.16: MediaWidget is one of these iPod transfer software products in the 25 dollar range that has dual iPod to computer and computer to iPod transfer capability. According to users, MediaWidget excels with an intelligently organized and comprehensive array of features, although some would like to have more tutorials available to learn how to use all these features!

MediaWidget gets great reviews for its ability to perform dual transfer tasks seamlessly and for its attractive design, although one user did report having problems with transferring playlists in lieu of individual songs, although other users reported being able to transfer playlists without incident. All in all, MediaWidget gets rave reviews for its full-featured functionality and easy-to-use layout. MediaWidget would be a good fit for the iPod or iPhone user who has experience in using this kind of software and is looking for a more comprehensive iPod software transfer utility. A free trial download is available for this product on the Bootstrap Development website or on cNet or ZDnet, among others.

4. 4Media iPod to PC Transfer 2.1.33.0522: 4Media iPod to PC Transfer is priced in the 25 dollar range like MediaWidget and iPod Rip but interestingly enough does not have dual transfer capability like those products do and is therefore questionable how the price can be justified without this added functionality. However, users report that this software does what it says it can do with relatively few problems. It also has a free trial download available on the 4Media website or on the major software download sites.

5. Tansee iPod Transfer 3.3: Tansee iPod Transfer is competitively priced in the 20 dollar range with similar iPod to computer transfer only software products in this category. This particular product above all others reviewed here received numerous complaints about mainly two things: first, many users reported that this product does not install properly or crashes when being installed on a second iPod or iPhone and second, their customer service left much to be desired as far as finding a solution to a problem is concerned.

Other users reported that it could not transfer meta data such as volume adjustments, manual song titles and playlists – just individual songs and videos only. In sum, given the numerous yet-to-be-resolved issues with this product, it is recommended that you at least compare other products by using the free trial download before purchasing this one.

6. iPod Robot iPod to Computer Transfer 4.5: iPod Robot iPod to Computer Transfer software is priced in the 20 dollar range and offers single transfer capability along with similarly priced competing products out there. Many users report liking the clean and crisp layout of the software and say that this software does what it says it can do without incident. In sum, its our feeling that this product is a solid choice for the more entry-level user who is looking for a quick, easy and more cost-effective way to transfer data from their iPod to iTunes. The only limitation we could find was that there is a 7 day trial download only – available o n the iPodRobot website or on the major software download sites.

7. iPodAid iPod To Computer Transfer 5.7.2: iPodAid iPod To Computer Transfer is another one of these more basic features offerings that is priced at the lower end of the spectrum at around 20 dollars. It has a somewhat hard to read user interface with grey text over a black background. Users have indicated that the trial version, available for download on the major software download sites as well as the iPod Aid website, only allows you to transfer one song before requiring you to upgrade to the paid “Pro” version – beware! 8. iPod to computer copy 2.3: iPod to computer copy, the highest priced product on this list at 30 dollars, is a stretch considering that it only supports single iPod to computer data transfer. Users consider the software to perform capably with regard to transferring all types of files, however. It also has a free trial download available on the Tansee website and other major software download sites.

9. Cucusoft iPod/iPhone/iTouch to Computer Transfer: This is another full-featured offering with dual transfer capability and supporting all iPod and iPhone models. It is also the highest-priced product reviewed here at around 30 dollars. Most users report liking the full-featured functionality of this product, namely photo transfer, multiple languages (English, Spanish, Deutsch, Japanese, Chinese and more) and auto-search functionality. Ease of use is also among the accolades. All in all, this product has as much functionality as any of the other full-featured offerings reviewed here: MediaWidget , Anapod Explorer and iPod Rip, but is priced in the 30 dollar range along with Anapod Explorer.

10. Red Chair Anapod Explorer Universal Edition: As mentioned above in the Cucusoft review, the Anapod Explorer Universal Edition has dual-transfer and playlist and photo transfer capability and works with all iPod models There are also 4 other iPod model-specific versions of this software available: the iPod Shuffle Edition, iPod Nano Edition and iPod Mini Edition which work for their particular models only, however there is no iPhone support for any of these versions.

Users like the easy to use drag and drop interface, free lifetime upgrades and multiple devices support although there are mixed reviews about how responsive and effective their tech support is. Others have reservations about the instillation process as you first need to buy the software, download and install the program, click a link to send in an electronic token and then click on the installation code link in an email that will let you fully activate the product. There is also no Mac version for this software, interestingly enough. The bottom line for Anapod Explorer Universal Edition is that it performs all iPod data transfer tasks capably but has no iPhone support and at 30 dollars is a little pricey given the deficiencies.

Taking advantage of the free trial downloads that most of the iPod to computer software manufacturers offer on the above software download websites is a great way to help you decide which iPod transfer software is right for you. However, it is important to remember that if you elect to purchase one of the iPod to computer software offerings with features such as the ability to upload data to your iPod or iPhone from your computer, multi-model and computer functionality and multiple file format transfer capability means you may lose your iPod data altogether in the case of loss, theft or an operating system reinstall or find that your software does little more than the free iTunes can.

Or in other words, you may eventually find the need to purchase a more full-featured iPod to computer data transfer software package that has this functionality. Upon closer examination, it’s our view that it is well worth the extra few dollars to have this added functionality, both as a safeguard to your iPod data as well as the ability to transfer data between multiple iPods and iPhones. Remember to consider the full spectrum of functionality and ease of use for the money when considering an ipod data transfer software purchase!

Are you looking for full-featured and easy-to-use software that will allow you to upload data from your iPod to iTunes quickly and easily? If so, remember that any product on the market today does this but many do not support computer to iPod transfer, or support the most recent models. These features seem to be a dividing line of sorts between the more and less expensive products.
Tips and Information
